A new wattage on the brick does not make the in-box cable a dock lead. Charge is one negotiation. 40 Gbps is another. Apple will ship a cable that is honest about power and quiet about data.

If you bought the laptop for a dock, budget a certified 40G cable. The spec change is on the power adapter page. The cable drawer did not get the memo.
